Jonathan is responsible for managing the design team and is the main client contact for large and complex urban-core projects. His specific expertise lies in building codes, life safety, accessible design, energy performance and waterproofing on projects, starting in the concept design stage and following through to the documentation and construction phases.
Jonathan values a high level of preparation through a detailed understanding of architecture and his career has taught him the worth of this over the years. He’s been practicing since 2005 after gaining a Bachelor of Science in Architecture from the University of Virginia and a Master of Architecture from the University of Pennsylvania. Jonathan later joined Portman in 2014, having gained licenses as a Registered Architect in Pennsylvania and Georgia.
In his leisure time he enjoys a different kind of architecture – spending much of his time with his two boys drawing forts. Jonathan also likes to keep active by running and fly-fishing and chooses to relax by reading a good book.
