As a Principal and Director of Operations at the firm, Chris Gray has more than 20 years of experience in architectural design and project delivery. Prior to joining Portman Architects in 2019 Chris has primarily served mission based clients where he’s applied his passion and practical abilities to a variety of projects. He has led teams for numerous project types for clients including master planning, medical technologies laboratories, athletics & entertainment, historic rehabilitation, multi-phase renovations, libraries and dining. He has further expanded on this experience to include high-rise residential and luxury hospitality. This wide array has equipped him with the skills to navigate complex projects and deliver on challenging schedules. He activates consultants early to harness the power of collaboration and integrated design. His team-centric approach extends into the construction phase where Chris works closely with the construction professionals and subcontractors to realize clients’ visions.

Chris is a LEED accredited professional with experience in energy efficiency and sustainable construction standards that include certification programs such as EarthCraft, LEED, and IFLI Living Building. Through rigorous organization and his relentless attention to detail, Chris has developed a reputation for exceeding expectations and consistently providing exceptional client service.
