615 South College Earns LEED Gold Certification
Completed earlier this year, 615 South College has already achieved a milestone – LEED Gold Certification. Created by the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC), LEED, or Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design, is the most widely used green building rating system. LEED is the world’s preeminent program for the design, construction and operation of high-performance green buildings.The LEED Gold rating is the second highest of four levels bestowed for LEED.
The 18 story, 370,000 SF office building features two-story balconies with views of downtown and South End Charlotte as well as an outdoor green space that connects the building to Stonewall Station, downtown Charlotte’s first light rail stop. Surrounded by respected corporate neighbors including Duke Energy and several other large financial institutions, it is steps away from the city’s professional sports arenas, parks, the Charlotte Convention Center and the Portman-designed Westin Charlotte
Based on the number of points received, a project is awarded with one of four LEED rating levels: Certified, Silver, Gold and Platinum. 615 South College received GOLD and was ranked on:

- Innovation
- Regional priority credits
