SALT LAKE CITY – November 15, 2021 – Hyatt celebrated today Hyatt Regency Salt Lake City’s topping out, which recognizes the accomplishment of reaching the final design height of a building under construction. Located at 170 South West Temple, the 686,784 square foot Hyatt Regency Salt Lake City is on time and on budget and is slated to open in the fall of 2022.

“Today marks a significant milestone for Hyatt Regency Salt Lake City, a project Portman Holdings is proud to direct from development through construction,” said Ambrish Baisiwala, CEO of Portman Holdings. “The property is a continuation of our 54-year relationship with Hyatt.”

Hyatt Regency Salt Lake City will be a 25-story convention hotel that will offer 700-rooms, approximately 60,000 square feet of meeting space for seamless gatherings, two restaurants, two lounges, and a grab-and-go market. The lobby will allow guests to enjoy inviting spaces anchored by an elegant and striking double-sided stone clad fireplace.

“The design for the Hyatt Regency Salt Lake City offers an experience of modern, clean and streamlined concepts that takes full advantage of its unique site and works in harmony with the neighborhood” said Robert Halverson, CEO for Portman Architects.

The hotel will be a major participant of Salt Lake City’s vibrant and thriving urban hub, while providing breathtaking views of the snowcapped mountains.

“Hyatt Regency Salt Lake City will bring a new and dynamic hotel to the Salt Lake City marketplace, and is a great example of our continued focus on growing premium, full-service hotels that will attract convention business and leisure travelers alike,” said Jordan Meisner, senior vice president of Field Operations for Hyatt. “I offer my congratulations and thank you to everyone with the ownership and development team, investors, architectural and construction partners, as well as our partners at the state, county and city level, who have collaborated with us in order to bring this development to fruition.”
