John D. Nipaver named to CTBUH Advisory Group

ATLANTA, GA USA – John Portman & Associates is pleased to announce that firm Vice President, John D. Nipaver, AIA, has been invited to join the Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat (CTBUH) Advisory Group. This group, originally known as the Steering Committee, provides strategic counsel and guidance to the Board of Trustees.

‘The Advisory Group is a very important part of the leadership structure of the Council,’ explained CTBUH Chairman Professor Sang Dae Kim. ‘With a body of approximately 30 respected peers in the industry from across the world, the group gives us a vital perspective on strategic directions and other matters.’

In his role, Nipaver will support the Council’s mission to disseminate multi-disciplinary information on tall buildings and sustainable urban environments, to maximize the international interaction of professionals involved in creating the built environment, and to make the latest knowledge available to professionals in a useful form. Nipaver had this to say about his new role, ‘I feel very fortunate to have been given this opportunity and hope to add additional perspectives to CTBUH’s vision.’

The Council is an international not-for-profit organization supported by architecture, engineering, planning, development and construction professionals. The CTBUH is the world’s leading body in the field of tall buildings and the recognized source of information on tall buildings internationally. It is the arbiter of the criteria upon which tall building height is measured, and thus the title of ‘The World’s Tallest Building’ determined.

In his career at John Portman & Associates, Nipaver headed up the project teams for such notable high-rises as the 60-story SunTrust Plaza in Atlanta and the Incheon 151 Tower in South Korea.
