John Portman & Associates Short-listed for Miami convention center project

Firm part of Portman-CMC team selected to move on to next phase of vetting process.

The competition to design and develop a new master plan for the 52 acres of prime Miami Beach real estate is down to two teams. The design team is composed of renowned architects John Portman & Associates, Bjarke Ingels Group, and Fentress Architects; along with landscape architects West 8. The development team is a collaboration between master developers Portman Holdings and CMC, along with entertainment giant Cirque du Soleil; and Whitman Lazenby Properties, the firm behind the ultra-successful Bal Harbour Shops.
